Rock of Cashel. Wie himmelwärts gehobenwirkt die mächtige Kathedrale (13. Jahrhundert) auf dem Rock of Cashel. Noch immer vermittelt sie Würde und Macht einer mittelalterlichen Bistumskirche. In den Schatten der Kathedrale duckt sich die 1127-1134 erbaute Cormac's Capel, die für viele als die interessanteste romanische Kirche Irlands gilt.
Kilkenny, die zweifellos schönste Stadt im Binnenland und wird auch "Marble City" genannt. Man könnte glauben, dass hier das irische Bier Kilkenny gebraut wird. Aber der Tourist-Guide, der die Besucher auf der Stadtführung begleitet, klärt auf, dass die örtliche Braurerei nur mehr Budweiser abfüllt und das Kilkenny Bier in der Nähe von Dublin produziert wird.
Kilkenny. Hier hat der Großvater von Walt Disney gewohnt und dieser Ort ist für die zweithöchste Selbstmordrate bei Männern in Europa bekannt (Grund: Depressionen nach zu viel Bierkonsum). Kein Wunder, neben dem mittelterlichen Stadtflair mit dem Castle und den Kathedralen fallen einem vor allem die vielen Pubs auf und es sollen an die 80 sein.
